Three C’s of pool care

There is a lot to think about when it comes to pool care. Water balance, equipment set up, management, cleaning, covers… The three C’s of pool care are the easiest way to make sure you are remembering the most important parts of pool care.

So, what are the three Cs of pool care?

1. Circulation.
2. Cleaning.
3. Chemistry.

Circulation

Circulation simply means keeping that water moving. If your water isn’t moving it you’re going to be doing a whole lot of cleaning and chemistry! Stagnant water because a breeding ground for algae and small bugs. Maintaining regular circulation through the pumps will help keep your water healthy, mix your chemicals well and filter any small debris and dirt. Equipment you need to check up on here is the pump, skimmer, filter and jets.

Cleaning

Cleaning is pretty straightforward, but did you know there is more to cleaning than raking the leaves? Brushing the walls and surfaces, ladders and steps and cleaning the skimmer are all equally important in keeping your pool clean. Equipment you may need here is a brush, net or leaf rake and vacuum. Do yourself a favour and invest in a robotic pool cleaner to save yourself time and catch those little bits that are difficult to get to. Also, make sure to keep an eye on your pump as it is your most valuable pool cleaning tool!

Chemistry

Last, but certainly not least, Chemistry. Chemistry is all about those water levels. Keeping those levels balanced will keep your water sparkly and safe and prolong the life of equipment and pool fittings. Some chemicals and levels you need to be aware of are pH, calcium hardness, alkalinity, chlorine, and phosphates.
